We had a wonderful conference on 20th August at Taj Krishna. We had about 250 delegates. The ‘Grand Ball Room’ at Taj Krishna was beautiful and a perfect place for the conference. It was very encouraging to see people showing up at 8:45 am.

There were total 500 registrations representing 89 IT/ITES companies and 56 colleges/academia. However, as we expected the turn out was 50%. Good news is that most of the attendees stayed until the last tea break at 5 pm.

Ramam Atmakuri, Head of Cognizant, started the conference with his keynote and set the right tone, followed by session 1 in which Tathagat Verma, Vibhu Srinivasan and Jesse Fewell covered high level agile principles and practices, current adoption rates in different contexts, benefits and pitfalls of agile. This is followed by case studies from three product companies and one services company. Speakers in this session were very hands on and understand exactly what agile meant in their situations. Speakers were clear on what agile gave to their companies and how it affected the bottom line.

Afternoon session was more meant for practitioners. Madhur Kathuria’s release planning was interactive and kept the delegates awake. This is followed by Ramesh’s session on ‘Manager’s role in agile projects’. Ramesh explained what should and shouldn’t be the responsibilities of a manager on agile projects.  At the last but not least, Preethi from Thought Works talked about how agile is people centric and the importance of people and their attitude on an agile project.

We broke for the tea at 5pm right after a short promotional talk by PMIPCC president, Suresh Chandra. We continued with lightening talks after tea. We had 5 -7 speakers for this session. It was impressive to see people still had full of energy at this late. All the speakers spoke in lightening talks got a book as gift. There were few copies of popular agile titles sponsored by Pearson publishing.

Thanks to all the speakers for delivering the rich content. Thanks to the sponsors for the sponsorships which made it possible to have this conference at a great venue. Thanks to ITsAP for partnering and organizing the event. Thanks to all Agile Hyderabad group members for their hard work.
